Welcome To The Online Conservatory

From Jordan:

We are proud to bring you a newly improved 2017 version of the OC!

For many years, I was asked by people around the world for personal lessons. It would be great to be able to sit down and work with every person individually but my recording and touring schedule would make that very challenging! Being someone who is interested in technology, I thought it would be great if I could use the web to reach out and connect with the international community offering my own personal course in music!

These exercises were developed as a result of the wonderful foundation I learned while studying at Juilliard along with the real world experience I've had since then in my musical career. Some of it comes from actual private lessons with students, who had been to my studio in the early years before my touring life got so extensive, and partly in articles I have written for various magazines and publications.

The OC contains everything from standard fundamental music exercises to technical exercises that I have personally developed. In the Harmony section, there are many exercises that will improve your internal ear-to-instrument connection. Rhythmic exercises will teach you not only the basics, but also how to feel odd meters in your whole body! As a musician, you need to understand that although you are just moving your fingers on the keys to make sound, it is really your whole physical being that goes into the music! For keyboardists, you'll also learn the basics of pitch-wheel / joystick technique and start to bend your notes effectively. Explore your creativity through exercises and examples that open you up to new ways of thinking about improvisation, even while only using 2 or 3 different notes! Do some Ear Training using my special technique. Get comfortable with independence from exercises designed to keep you creative while focusing on complete separation.

There are hundreds of Video, MIDI, notation, and MP3 files included! Make sure to also check out the area called "Jordan's Riffs" which takes you through some of my favorite sections from my recordings and allows you to follow along the notation while listening to an isolated MP3 of the part. Also included in the OC are some excellent Satellite Courses given by guest instructors from my network of musician friends and colleagues. They cover everything from analog synthesis, to guitar soloing, to extreme drumming and beyond.

With this new launch also comes a new section called "Ask Jordan" where members can send me questions and videos to respond to. Send me anything from questions on technique and warm-up exercises, to requesting a critique of your band's performance. I respond (by video) to the most popular questions as often as my schedule allows. I'm looking forward to hearing from you there!

We are dedicated to expanding the OC in the future, and are excited to have all of you along for the ride!!
