Hello Jordan, one question, if you didn't research modes and jazz theory when you did, would Dream Theater music and your solo music be alot different than it is today, because im currently listening to 'The Unforgotten Path' and seeing alot of jazz.

Hey Miles, thanks for being part of my online conservatory. I never really studied jazz formally but I’ve always been very open to exploring different styles. That said, I’ve spent a lot of time looking into all different kinds of chords and soloing concepts on my own. I’ve always been interested in what makes style tick! When I was a young musician I would play a lot of show tunes and songs from movies and that gave me information about harmony as well. So, I guess what I’m saying is my path has led me into a lot of exploration into different musical styles and that is part of what makes up all my music. It’s a hunger to understand what the ideas are behind the music that I listen to. I even recently took a lesson in Indian music. I wish you all the best. Thanks for being part of this !!
